Oh, yes, 2012 is going to be The Year -- for moving forward personally and professionally, in a big, big way.
This seems like exactly the right time for clearing out stuff from the past that's been holding me back, for focusing like a laser beam on the task at hand, and most of all -- for shaping up physically.
For the first time in several years, it is economically viable for my husband and me to sign up for a year's membership at an excellent nearby health club. Best of all, I plan to work with a personal trainer for several months -- that's what I know I need to do, to get me back on-track and to keep me on-track. What a sense of personal empowerment -- choosing wholeheartedly to work toward being in shape.
Just the thought of once again being proud about how I look makes my spirits soar!
Oh, sure, I may never again be asked to model -- as I was when I was 19, by the well-known Shillito's department store (now departed from the scene) in my hometown, Cincinnati. And I may never again get a wolf whistle -- as I did in my early 20s from a New York cabbie.
But I believe that I can be a lot healthier than I am at the moment, and I'm going to make progress next year. For starters, I'll participate in the adult fitness swim classes in the mornings, and then hatha yoga classes; eventually, I'll do some sort of dance class.
Shaping up will be the key to my vibrant new life in 2012! And along the way I will keep you posted and I look forward to you telling me what you're doing to get in shape. Let's do this together!

Thanks, Rosemarie! It's true -- I do still get occasional appreciative looks -- it would be a kick to be a role model for other women in their 70s! LOL

Thanks, Catherine. I'm honest enough to know that having a personal trainer's guidance and encouragement to help me achieve my goals, is exactly what I need for a while.

Linda - You have incredible energy and I am sure you will be getting wolf whistles. You probably are getting them already! You are a beautiful woman both inside and outside!
