Beautiful post Vicky! I so completely relate as I watch my sons 10, 7 and 3 grow. It seems to have passed so past with the oldest that it makes me treasure every moment with all of them. Children truly are our greatest gifts and I thank mine often for being a part of my life.

Your son is lucky to have you and one day your daughter-in-law will be too!

What a touching piece indeed. As a divorced mother raising an almost 13-year-old boy, I felt as though you were speaking to me as I watch my greatest creation grow into a fine young man. Like you, we have sat -- and hiked, and skiied -- side by side on many memorable vacations and he is one terrific companion. I like to think I had a little to do with it, though I also know some of his best qualities came with the package! Thanks for the perspective of thinking of him as someone's future son-in-law.

Vicky, very touching piece. I didn't have these moments with my children - sad to say, life got in the way. However, we grew together and are extremely close - they are adults now. I am extremely close with my grandchildren. My oldest grandson is turning 12 I look at him and think the same thing you are thinking about while sharing moments and treasure each one.

Nice piece Vicky. After reading this I think I will tell my son-in law's mom nice job.
