Since I have been on vacation where the only access to watching TV has been through my laptop, I have discovered a plethora of shows made exclusively for the web (better known as Webisodes) that have caught my interest and kept me laughing non-stop. Between www.thewb.com to www.hulu.com's original series, I have been thinking about canceling my Direct TV.. nah... but I have been entertained!
Now, an exciting new Webisode from my favorite magazine More! They have teamed up with Candace Bushnell, creator of HBO’s Sex and the City and NBC’s Lipstick Jungle, on a new series.
Written by Bushnell, produced by the Meredith Corporation (More Magazine's parent company) in association with director Ellen Gittelsohn (Roseanne, Designing Women), the new web series is titled The Broadroom (cute play on words) and will take a humorous look at workplace issues facing women. Starting in September, four episodes are scheduled to air starring Jennie Garth from Beverly Hills, 90210; and Talia Balsam from Mad Men. The Broadroom will be sponsored by Maybelline.
Also, Candace Bushnell will write two columns for the September and October issues of More magazine which targets women aged 40-plus. Bushnell is the author of the wildly popular bestseller Sex and the City, which spawned the HBO hit series (and movie) starring Sarah Jessica Parker.
Bushnell first put the singles scene into print as The New York Observer's resident Sex and the City columnist and she had so much material that she turned it into a book which became a TV series which became a movie... you get the rest. Another one of her successful novels turned TV series on NBC, Lipstick Jungle, was a female favorite (me included) which portrayed the lives of "women who have careers like men."
She is sharp, funny and spirited and I am so excited to see what Sex In The City author Candace Bushnell comes up with for More and Broadroom!
