Marina Spence developed the stress-free system of change to guide her
way out of a fast-paced Wall Street career, beginning at age 54. She
didn’t want to run away (well, sometimes she did), but instead to
change her work and her attitudes toward work at a pace that suited her.
After road-testing the stress-free system on herself, she mentored other women. The women’s stories, the system and tons of exercises became her book, Make Every Day a Friday! The Joy of Connecting Who You Are with What You Do, which has been called:
“…inspiring and practical.” -- Shakti Gawain, author Creative Visualization
“…clear and concise...accessible and supportive.” – Marci Shimoff, author Happy for No Reason
“…filled with savvy advice, powerful tools, and amazing support. Marina writes as if she’s coaching you personally.” – Barbara Stanny, author Secrets of Six-Figure Women
Make Every Day a Friday! packs a wallop in few words with lots of
hard-earned wisdom – that’s what Marina says about her book (plus a
portion of the profit goes to Women for Women International, the
wonderful organization that empowers women victimized by war to become
self-sufficient).
The foundation of the stress-free system is “tuning in,” a modified form of meditation. Marina devotes one chapter to teaching readers how to “tune in.” She likens meditation to giving your mind a shower. “Would you go for months and months without showering or bathing?” she asks. “No. So why let your mind get clogged and dirty and expect it to work well? To focus and be creative?”
In promoting her book, Marina found she liked talking about meditation so much that she’s moving The Pink Edge in a more spiritual direction in her speaking and workshops. The re-focus is not a stretch: she has meditated since 1982 and taught meditation to beginners, ranging from Manhattan professionals to inmates at Rikers Island Correctional Facility. In the re-focus, she’s following her own advice, which is to keep changing and growing, and letting Life lead.
