Spirited Woman held its first ever SPIRITED WOMAN VIDEO CONTEST. Women from around the world answered the question, "Why am I a Spirited Woman?" Fantabulously talented, spirited, and oh-so wonderful we salute our video winners! And thank you for entering!

Why is CJ a Spirited Woman?

Our first place winner, C.J. Lucke has worked in Southern California local government for 20 years. For fun, she does a weekly meditation podcast based on Star Trek (she's obviously a HUGE fan) and she also hosts a Plugged in Public, a weekly blog that provides advice on how to market your business using “new media”.

She lives in San Diego, CA with her 11-year-old son (who the video is dedicated to) and spends weekends writing, making jewelry, watching science fiction shows, shopping on E-bay and completing household projects. Her most recent accomplishment was finishing a romance called Little Lavender Lies that she is currently hoping to publish. CJ follows AstrologyZone.com (one of our contest sponsors - Yeah!) religiously and timed the completion of her novel with astrologer Susan Miller's advice.

When we asked CJ why she entered the first ever Spirited Woman Video Contest, she said, "I learned about the contest at AstrologyZone and wanted to enter both to win the horoscope reading, and just to have fun."

Why is Janet a Spirited Woman?

"I entered the contest because friends in my women’s art group told me about it. I'd been making short videos for YouTube of other women artists to promote an exhibition called, Why Not?!

The other finalists were super – I feel in great company with such 'spirited women.' I just started making videos last December and winning second place in a national contest makes me certain this art form is the right direction for me," says Janet Luongo, an artist, counselor, speaker on wellness, and all around Spirited Woman. 

We're happy that the Spirited Woman community could be the spark for Janet to get up and shoot her spirited womanhood.

Janet  also produces a public access TV show, Nourish and Flourish in Fairfield County, Connecticut, holds a masters in education - she has taught art on every level and now works with inner city students at the Housatonic Museum of Art - and is a founding board member of Women for Family Nutrition.

Happily married, with a grown son who is a teacher in Colorado, Janet has worked for over 25 years to help people reach their full potential. Her motto is “Let your true self bloom." Her website is: www.janetluongo.com

Why is Wendy a Spirited Woman?

My name is Wendy and I am 10 years old and in 5th grade. I live with my parents and big sister Alice. I was born in St. Louis and try to go back there once a year.

I love, love, love penguins! I enjoy writing and science. I play Webkinz, Neopets and Buildabearville on the computer. I have many friends, and my name means "friendly". I love working with others and try to get an A on my report card! My birthday is May 19th. I always go to Sarasota for my birthday. I love to have fun 24/7! I made a special cartooning notebook to draw crazy cartoons and characters! My favorite color is magenta, it is just beautiful! Walt Disney World is my second home... I go there every few weeks. I like to ride Big Thunder Mountain with my hands up in the air screaming the whole time.

When I was 8 I had my pigtails cut off and donated them to Locks of Love. I used to do be a Girl Scout and I love to recycle! I try to carpool as much as possible. Evos is a healthy fast food restaurant near me, and I love that they have 4 different flavored ketchups to try!

I have 2 pen pals who moved away. If I could take a cool trip, I would go to Washington DC to see all the historical sites and my friend Katherine who moved to Maryland.

I entered the Spirited Woman video contest because I thought it would be a fun challenge for me. Winning would make me feel like a somebody. When I made the video it brought out my inner creativity when I disguised myself as different characters. If I could be any of the characters in my video, I'd still want to be Wendy - ME! I watched a few of the other video entries and I thought those women had a better chance of winning because they were older and did more work on their videos. I'd like to share my full video but it was 12 minutes!
