Honoring the belief that women are strong, powerful, filled with wisdom, and highly intuitive about their own health needs. In fact, Sharon is a woman deeply on a mission to change the way women over 40 feel about their bodies and getting older.
"I took over the company at 23 (my dad founded it)," says Sharon, now 46. "At the time we only
had our flagship product, Pro-Gest, our natural progesterone cream.
We'd get many letters from women. I was captivated and really believed
women were not getting the full plate of options they deserved to know
about."
So from a young age, Sharon set about doing something about it. Building Emerita into a leading brand. Opening up new lines of distribution in the natural foods marketplace. Developing a new line of products for perimenopause/menopause support, skin care and sexual vitality.
And she turned her attention to education, recognizing how important it is for women to be informed about their health choices.
In the past few years, she spearheaded Women in Balance, a national association for women's health that works with government, women's health organizations, physicians and consumers to promote research and education on hormone balance and midlife health options for women.
When asked, "Why she is a Spirited Woman?" Sharon replies, "I'm just curious about life and I love adventure. I'm really passionate about making a difference and making things better for others."
