Welcome to the world of SPIRITED WOMANHOOD.
We'll Happy New Year. Again. I'm so excited about SPIRITED WOMAN's
new year, I'm on the edge of my seat. It's going to be awesome. All
right...roll out the drums and trumphets...SPIRITED WOMAN is about to
launch our first singing contest. That's right. It's in the works and
will be announced within the next few weeks. You'll be able to
participate and it's going to be beyond fun - with prizes, awards, and
the whole she-bang!
Another new development is that in addition to the thousands of you that are SPIRITED WOMAN Newsletter subscribers, SPIRITED WOMAN now has a growing presence at My Space, www.myspace.com/thespiritedwoman. Over 500 fantabulous women have joined our community there, and we invite all of you with a My Space presence to friend us. This month, our Q&A is with Meredyth Hunt, a Certified Hand Analyst. Yes, you read it right. Meredyth reads hands, and she firmly believes that "the map of who you are is in your hands." SPIRITED WOMAN Q & A
MEREDYTH HUNT
Every
year for four years now, I find it essential for my soul (and yours) to
feature at least one spirited woman that looks at the world from a
different metaphysical perspective - I've interviewed Susan Miller, the
leading astrologer, Haiku Helen, a psychic beloved by many, Laura Lee,
the celebrated angel reader, and Robyn Bentley, better known as the
Feng Shui Diva. This year (right after we've all made our New Year's
resolutions), my interview is with Meredyth Hunt, an LA-based Certified
Hand Analyst.
Yes, you read it right, Meredyth analizes hands, and she claims that "the map of who you are is in your hands," and that, "the palm is the part of your hand that you can change." Okay. Originally from Killeen, Texas, Meredyth, age 37, came to Los Angeles nine years ago, to be an actress. She had a degree of acting success, but a few years later she was biten by the hand bug, after her friends told her about this terrific hand analysis class they were in. She took the class, and through a series of events, she decided to study it and become a professional reader. She felt it was truly meaningful work with an extremely strong purpose.
In 2001, Meredyth graduated from the International Institute of Hand Analysis, which combines the study of de-coded fingerprint information and ancient palmistry, and since then, she is one of the few (there are less than 100) professional certified hand analysts in the world. She also teaches classes at The Apposta School of Palmistry in LA. I became aware of Meredyth because several people I know professionally raved about her work, and as it turns out we are both members of the same local networking group.
I find Meredyth's Q&A to be fascinating - and very well-suited for those of you - eager to begin a new path, explore more deeply into your personal growth, try something different, or to find out more about the fingerprints of your life. Also, for those of you who would like to meet Meredyth, she will be attending the upcoming Spirited Woman Workshop on February 10th at the Black Box Theater. Now, here's Meredyth.
Q. What exactly does a hand analyst do?
A.
When I sit down with somebody I'm going to give them the map of who
they are. I'm going to say day to day these are your strengths and
these are your challenges as you move through the world and in addition
to that this is your life purpose - this is what you were born to do,
your gift to humanity - and then we go over your life lesson.
Q. Why would this help someone?
A. It's great on a
couple of levels. One is that people have a sense of relief and
understanding about why they do the things they do. Some of it is "oh
yeah, that make's sense." And the second piece of it is direction - for
everything in the hand there is a remedy - there are a set of practical
tools that you can apply (such as meditation, yoga, hiking, nature,
breathing exercises, and more).
Q. What makes you different from the classic "gypsy" palm reader?
A.
I don't do predictions. I don't know how long you are going to live or
how many children you are going to have or if you are going to get
married again. It is not about what's coming, it's about understanding
your psychology, what you're designed for, and what your weakness is
and then giving you tools to work with.
Q. What are some of the reasons clients come to you?
A.
I find the majority of my clients come because there is a sense of
something missing in their life. They are looking for direction. They
want to finesse their purpose. They may be experiencing some purpose
but there is another level that they want to get to, and so we look at
what is standing in the way of opening yourself up to the biggest level
of purpose you are designed for. Other people come to me often in
crisis. Their lives have completely fallen apart or their relationship
and they're really looking for a light at the end of a tunnel. And I go
in and do the best I can to help them guide themselves through that.
Q. Can you give us some examples of what some of those life purposes are?
A.
Sure. Out of the fingerprints there are 10 different purposes, so each
finger has a different purpose. Out of the palm there are gift
markings, so you can have "an artist in the spotlight" out of your
fingerprints and then have a spiritual teacher gift marking in your
palm. You can be a "paid business person," so you can have a purpose
which is very much about how can I make money, and have success based
on these abilities. You could be a successful healer, author, those are
all possibilities.
Q. What I find fascinating is that there are three major
lines in the hand - the heart line, the head line, and the life line.
What do these lines mean?
A. The heart line is about how am I
going to express my emotional needs - what are my emotional needs and
what is the style I'm going to express them in - am I somebody who
analyzes all my emotions and talks about them from a dry rational place
or am I explosive and dynamic and reactive. The head line is about how
do I process information mentally - am I someone who makes snap
decisions who doesn't need a lot of outside imput or am I somebody who
takes a really long time to research and analyze information. And the
life line is not about how long you are going to live, it's about how
grounded you are in your body - what is your ability to work and to
rest in balance.
Q. You explained to me that each one of us is sailing in one
of four oceans - what are the oceans symbolic of and what do they mean?
A.
Out of the fingerprints there are four different types of people who
are learning different things. I call them oceans that you are sailing.
The ocean of peace is about learning to move from a place of chaos and
imbalance to a place of peace and balance and harmony. The ocean of
wisdom is about learning out of your head and over-analysis and to take
action on the answers you get from your gut. The ocean of love is about
being fully responsive and responsible to your emotional state in an
authentic way and not being reactive. And the ocean of service is
learning the difference between servitude and sacrifice and true
service - which is being of service to self first, filling your own cup
first and then being of service to others.
Q. Another fascinating tidbit is that our fingerprints never change, but that the lines in the palm of our hands do. Why is that?
A.
The palm is the topigraphical map of the neurological pathways your
brain takes most often. In other words, whatever track your brain is
running on over and over, get etched into the palm. Well, we can change
our thinking. So therefore the palm is mutable - it moves with our
brain chemistry. Now the three major lines are much harder to change,
but all the other lines in our hand can move around sometimes daily.
The fingerprints stop forming at about 16 weeks in the womb, and they
are set. This is soul agenda information.
Q. Do you have any general advice to give us for the New Year?
A.
Anytime you are looking for what do I do, where do I go, I think a
really important question to ask yourself is - does this serve me?
Whatever path you are looking at taking - whether it's somebody wanting
to know if you can help them every weekend clean their garage or
whether you are looking for what job to take. Check in with your gut
and ask yourself does this serve me FULLY. Not, yeah, part of it does
and part of it doesn't, but does this fully serve you. And if you get
an ABSOLUTE YES it will be great, but if you get a maybe or a no, you
need to really look at the choice.
Q. Meredyth, why do you feel that you are a spirited woman?
A.
I am a spirited woman because I am actually exploring the deepest parts
of my spirit in ways that are challenging and hard and sometimes
painful. And the other side of that exploration is a great joy in
making an impact on the world with who I am, not the pre-packaged this
is what's going to be acceptable who I am, but really making an attempt
to say this is absolutely who I am and I love it and accept it to such
a degree that it is making a positive impact wherever I go.
