EDITOR'S MESSAGE
Welcome to the world of SPIRITED WOMANHOOD.
It truly is hard to believe that 2005 is drawing to a close and that 2006 is less than around the corner. This year has been filled with such newness – new workshops, new special events, a new website, new products – and most importantly new friends that I’ve met all across the country through the growing and evolving SPIRITED WOMAN community.
I consider myself a very lucky woman and I am so thankful that it has been three years now since SPIRITED WOMAN began. This newsletter is number 32, and to date, 600+ women have taken the workshop in 18 cities nationwide. Next year, if all goes as planned, there will finally be, “Spirited Woman” – the inspirational book. As many of you know, the whole concept of SPIRITED WOMAN is based on a manuscript I wrote several years back. I finally feel it’s time to publish it.

To end the year on a “high” note and in celebration of the holiday season, a time where we most often remember our loved ones, our Q&A this month is with angel medium Laura Lee. Laura has helped countless people around the world through her “angel readings,” where she communicates with the dearly departed and the guardian angels on the other side. Her interview, which is somewhat of a departure for SPIRITED WOMAN, is uplifting and an eye-opener. Grab a cup of eggnog and read it!

SPIRITED WOMAN Q & A
LAURA LEE
I met Laura Lee exactly three years ago, when she attended one of my first SPIRITED WOMAN Workshops in Santa Barbara. She had called breathless, and asked an hour before the workshop began if there was any space left. She said everywhere she turned she saw a flier on my workshop, and she just had to come. That she was being called. Whatever.
In walked this beautiful 30ish woman. Tall, stylish, with a wonderful presence, and a great laugh, we seemed to instantly develop a rapport and ever since that first afternoon we have become friends, and Laura has gone on to take several more workshops – both in LA (where she now lives) and Santa Barbara. She has also gone on to become a very well known and respected angel medium.
Yes my friends, Laura talks to the dearly departed. That’s right. Laura is clairvoyant, claircognizant, clairaudient, and clairsentient – which means that ALL of her senses pick up the other side with clarity and strength. She has had this gift from a very young age, but it wasn’t until a decade or so ago, that she started to do this work professionally. Before that, she was a very successful marketing executive in the corporate world.
Now, as a renowned medium, Laura is a sought after guest on many radio shows, such as LA’s KBIG Medium Show, has appeared with James Van Praagh on TLC’s “Possessed Possessions” and will soon appear on the Discovery Channel. She also travels constantly to whole life expos across the United States. Laura is as fascinating as is her subject. I urge you to read on…
Q. Laura, you are an angel medium, what does an angel medium do?
A. Let me break it down for you. An angel is a messenger of light – often times they reveal insights, revelations about past, present, and future. A medium is an individual who works as a liaison between the other side, which I call the heavens, and earth bound human beings. I bring forth messages from the other side and often times they are messages of hope to bring people a sense of peace and calmness about their loved ones as well as their own personal lives.
Q. When did you see your first angel and what was it like for you?
A. I was three years old and I was in bed. I felt this sense of energy come over me from the top of my head down to my toes and when it did it almost paralyzed me. It’s as if something was moving me and sat me straight up in bed. This often happened at the very beginning when I started having experiences with the other side – it’s as if their frequency or vibrations were so high that it would hold me in their space. So while I’m sitting straight up in bed, the vision of this beautiful light female being appeared and it’s as if I already knew her. I didn’t know how to respond at the time but I called out to her. When I did, she disappeared. I feel because of my own apprehension she didn’t want to scare me so she went off. I remember, while I was in the middle of that experience I felt like I was totally enraptured in love, totally secure, and as soon as she left it really frightened me as my own energy came back. I threw the covers over my head, made a little peephole and just started breathing out of the peephole because I was so frightened.
Q. What happened to you after that? Did you continue to see angels?
A. Yes. I started seeing them regularly, which really frightened me more. I saw them and had visitations from other beings, because a gate had opened for me. I could feel them. I could hear them. I could sense them. I could see them. It would often times be at night, when most other people have visitations from their loved ones because we are most relaxed. I would be tightly under the covers so that I could resist their presence and it wasn’t until I was about 19 and I had a near death experience that I realized there was nothing really to be frightened of.
Q. Tell us about your near death experience at such a young age. I know it affected you profoundly.
A. I believe, when we deny our calling we usually take up an addiction. My addiction at a very early age was bulimia, an eating disorder where I would eat and then purge my food. I was in my freshman year at college and after a decade with it, I was walking around like the “walking” dead. My hair and teeth were falling out, I was sick all the time and I had a heart murmur. I felt like I was going to die of heart failure any day. It was around Christmas and I attended a party with some friends. I never drank, I felt that would ad calories to my body, and I had barely eaten – by this point I was purging a cracker – that’s how bad it was and quite literally my body started purging on its own and I lost consciousness and nearly died. The next thing I know I’m waking up in an emergency room and the doctors are asking what would cause this to happen in a 19-year-old girls body. I revealed to them that I had an eating disorder and I needed help. When I came back I had an even more profound visitation from the same guardian angel that had appeared to me before and she told me that it was my destiny to communicate with others and to embrace my gift.
Q. You still went on to receive a bachelor’s degree in business marketing and were quite successful in the corporate world. What led you to go out and fulfill your dreams full time?
A. I was always doing readings for people on the side. I enjoyed my corporate job because it was all about communication and I got to use my intuitive skills in developing marketing campaigns and making other people lots of money. But, in my 10th year in corporate America I was over-seeing an internal advertising department at a major corporation and I “received” this information for a campaign, and the CEO of my company said where did you receive this information and I said I “downloaded it.” And he thought I meant from the computer – little did he know I received the information from the other side and I had disclosed a lot of information that was not privy to anybody’s eyes. So when I realized what turmoil it caused a lot of people – even myself – I realized that the gift was being misrepresented and misused and that’s when I decided to leave the corporate world and go out and use it to serve others.
Q. Why would someone consult with you or get a reading?
A. For a myriad of reasons, but the basics of it is that someone wants to connect with a loved one that they miss or feel is trying to contact them but they can’t receive their messages themselves. I serve as a conduit for them. Typically these messages that they receive give them all kind of insights. I’ve seen them based on the relationship, based on their life path, based on some financial issues they need to resolve and don’t have direction in, health issues – it runs the gamut.
Q. Are people contacting you because they want to connect with someone that they’ve lost or is it that they want to find out if they have a guardian angel and does everyone have a guardian angel?
A. Both. Yes, everyone does have a guardian angel. A lot of people contact me solely for their guardian angel and the information that is revealed. Of course, I have those who come to me because they know I am a medium for the dearly departed. The difference between the two though is that if you didn’t listen to dad while he’s here, are you going to listen to dad’s advice while he’s on the other side? Only you can choose that. The information you receive from your guardians or your guides are really specific toward your life path and are most important. Again, you can chose whether or not to accept the advice, but it is often close to your heart and on the right path.
Q. I have to ask you this – you were born in Normal, Illinois – do you consider yourself normal?
A. (She laughs hysterically.) Interestingly enough, I think that was a joke for “them” to place me there. To have been born in Normal – just so everybody could realize that even normal people can have these experiences and communications with the other side. To tell you quite honestly, I don’t know if I’m that normal because I have been such a geek about the paranormal ever since I was a little kid. My friends who know me from Normal would actually testify to this. In fact, my best friend growing up saw me on TV with James Van Praagh and he told my mother laughingly, that is so Laura.
Q. Laura, why do you feel that you are a Spirited Woman?
A. I think it goes back to the heart. The heart is so precious to each and every one of us. I know that when you pay attention to that heart call, that deep yearning inside - and follow it regardless of the challenging journey it might take you on – it’s so rewarding. It’s that Spirited Woman part of you coming out and leading the way.
