You’ve probably heard of the saying, “If it ain’t broke, don’t fix it.” Normally I cringe when I hear this. After all, aren’t we meant to evolve, grow and expand our horizons? But when it comes to using spiritual tools I make an exception to this way of thinking. A common belief in society today is that for something to “work” or be effective it has to be complicated. But I’ve noticed that spiritual tools, by contrast, are often simple. In fact, most people balk at using them because they think, “That’s too simple, how can it work?”
But there’s a lot to be said for old-fashioned, uncomplicated healing tools. I always say, if something has been around for years and years, it’s probably because it WORKS! So in this case, I’m all for just leaving things alone.
I consider myself to be a Spirited Woman. I am mission-driven and not immune to the stress around me and I know many other woman who are the same. Sometimes we can get caught up in thinking that we need complex solutions to our life challenges.
So today, I will share with you some simple and easy, time tested spirit-based solutions for managing stress and clearing your energy. And while you may already be familiar with these methods, it never hurts to have a refresher on the things you probably already have at your fingertips.
1. Take a sea salt bath or swim in the ocean. Salt water is extremely detoxifying. But if you don’t have access to the sea, or can’t spare time for a leisurely bath, fill a basin with hot water and some sea salt and soak your feet. Since you’ll be “trapped” for a while, take advantage of this time to yourself and enjoy a cup of herbal tea, flip through a magazine, read a favourite book, journal or meditate.
2. Walk on the grass with your bare feet. When you feel drained, depleted or sad or mad for no reason, it’s a symptom that your energy has been compromised. Use this cue to ground yourself by connecting with the earth. Step outside and place your bare feet in the grass or better yet, lie on your back for several minutes just staring into the sky. You’ll feel great in no time. If the weather doesn’t permit this, try some grounding yoga poses like Mountain Pose, Warrior 2 or Triangle Pose.
3. Go for a Reiki treatment. Reiki doesn’t treat a symptom or condition directly, but rather it works to bring the body into balance so you feel better and your body can begin to heal. Reiki practice is safe and cannot interfere with any medical treatment you may be receiving. The benefits of Reiki are numerous.
