Guest Blogger - Jaimi Blakely - I Don't Need a Genie's Lamp to Create Magic

Today, I have learned from my own experience that I don’t need a genie’s lamp to create magic; I have seen that I can create magic because I am the magic.

Reminding people that they have magic within them is a fundamental part of my mission statement. I am fascinated by everyday (s)heroes, magicians, fairies, genies, shape shifters, patron saints and angels who have taken charge of their lives and spirits through their conscious ability to co-create, transform or alchemize.

I love the idea that something we wish for can instantly come true and I am awed by the intrinsic power we have to create and co-create our lives.

As a Spirited Woman, my most fruitful success stories have developed from my conscious choice to be at cause over the outcome of the various aspects of my life. What this means is that when I have taken the time to write my goals, formulate a conscious business plan, produce a vision board, speak my affirmations, connect with my personal and professional support teams and take action, I have excelled, and when I have not done these things, I have not.

Over the past few weeks, I have been writing about energy for Spirited Woman, and while doing so, in particular, the subject of zero point energy has continued to come up. When something repeats itself in my life, I pay attention. For this reason, it didn’t seem surprising (yet, it is always a happy occurrence that I don’t take for granted) that I was given a book called The Answer by business gurus John Assaraf and Murray Smith, which articulates why zero point energy is the basis for conscious creation and shows you step-by-step how to integrate and conduct it.

As you might recall, John was featured in The Secret as the businessman who had rediscovered a vision board he had made five years previously and who when he saw that board was stunned to realize that he was now living across the country in San Diego in the exact home that he had cut out of Dream Homes magazine while living in Indiana.

In the book, John asserts how that moment was a turning point for him and acknowledges that he had no real idea as to how he had made this and many other dreams come true. He shares his personal search and tells us how he met with scientists, physicists and philosophers to discover the answer.

I admire Spirited Women who are able to balance the various aspects of their lives and organize their time according to what is most important to them. Women who give themselves ample hours and space to dream and plan, while still managing their full lives and allotting time for friends and family, and for business, health, fitness, finances, nature, important causes and their spirit inspire me. Sadly, these women are rare.

What is most common amongst our gender is the harried woman with flagging energy and a low spirit. I have been her many times. Late, always pressed for time, out of breath, with back-to-back meetings and responsibilities, this woman just can’t seem to get it together or hold it together.

A few years ago, I started doing something that I call My Hour of Power. During this “me break,” I do 15 minutes of conscious breathwork (which I discuss in my blog post, To Be In Charge of Your Life, You Need to Get a Charge Out of It!, 20 minutes of meditation, 20 minutes of writing in which I drain from my brain everything that feels like it is blocking my way forward and 5 minutes of Energy Medicine.

During the writing, I ask myself the following questions everyday:

1. What is the truth of which I have been unwilling to tell myself and if I told myself that truth, how could it help me?
2. How can I have more personal and creative freedom today?
3. How can I be more spiritually conscious, emotionally connected, physically present and mentally focused today?
4. What do I want to accomplish today and how do I choose to feel while doing it?
5. What are my goals?
6. How am I standing in the way of my goals right now?
7. What needs to be cleared so that I can gain traction, act quickly and expand my consciousness of what I am capable of doing and creating?
8. Do I feel at cause over my life or am I at the effect of it?
9. How can I be at cause?
10. What would make me very happy today and how can I plan it in to my day?
11. How can I spend 5-10 minutes making someone else very happy today and how can I plan that in to my day?
12. Am I hiding in my life? From what or whom, and why? What can I do today to overcome this?

I have noticed my energy level rise and fall in direct correlation to how much quality time I give myself and how little time I spend on myself. When I do My Hour of Power, I feel strong, confident, and joyful. Without my me time, I get weird. Things just don’t seem to go right or “click” and it’s as though I am out of sync with reality.

What if you could heal your body, extend the life of your cells, and make yourself look and feel younger simply by utilizing the energy of your own body? This is the thought that keeps me continually exploring new energy tools, treatments and techniques. These days, not only do I work out my body, but I also work out my energy.

In order to utilize our body’s energy, we have to at least begin by experiencing it. So far, the simplest way that I have found to do this is through deep breathing exercises. For 27 years, I have done at least 15 minutes a day of a breath work technique known as “conscious breathing” or “rebirthing.”

I studied with the man who created the technique, Leonard Orr. According to Leonard, in a 45-55 minute breath session a person breathes the equivalent amount of pounds per square inch of oxygen as they would in 2-3 months of normal breathing. If you still get colds, Leonard is convinced that you don’t know how to breathe properly. I haven’t had a cold in decades. Wouldn’t you like to experience the same? With a powerful flow of H2O into the body, it is not unusual for tremendous healing to take place. You can measure your body’s alkalinity prior to a session and after a session and you’ll have immediate proof of its efficacy.

On a personal level, I just feel better. During a typical session, I can expand my lung capacity and easily raise my own energy level. (BTW, once learned, it’s not only easy it’s free!) A friend of mine says that the reason that I look much younger than my years is because I have inhaled so much Prana in my life. Prana is the Sanskrit word for "breath." 

In Vedantic philosophy, Prana is considered to be the vital, life-sustaining force of all living beings, comparable to the Chinese notion of Qi, which is vital energy.

...Learning To Use Your Own Energy As A Tool for Healing, Growth and Intuition

Ever marveled at another woman’s capacity to navigate effortlessly through any life challenge, while most days you can’t even summon the energy to get from your house to your car? Ever felt mad, sad or happy after an encounter, yet not really known why? Ever been left feeling drained or “taken out” after a simple conversation? Or, how about when you feel instant like or dislike for someone?

These are all examples of your “energy field” talking to you. Our energy field is impersonal; it simply picks up a charge and sends us a signal. Like a finely tuned lightning rod, we continually pick up electrical charges or currents from others. I love the way that Carolyn Myss describes taking charge.

As spirited women, we have the capacity to feel deeply: we empathize with those we care about, and experience their pain, joy and sorrow as if it’s our own.

Ultimately, we “feel” for and about all people everywhere.

Our body is a sensorial sponge. It senses things and lets us know immediately: when we feel at ease, comfortable, and in charge, it is telling us that some one or some thing is “right.” When we feel a lack of ease, or uncomfortable, and disconnected, it is telling us that some thing or some one is “not right.”

Have you ever had a feeling or a “sense” that something was not right, yet instead of backing away, you made yourself forge ahead?

As women, we have been trained to “like everyone” which forces us to override our own energy system and thus, negate our intuition.

Take a recent situation in my life in which I was attempting to work out a deal with a potential business partner. My body didn’t feel good when I was around this person. During negotiations, the feelings became more pronounced. Instead of turning my attention to the person with whom I was negotiating, I convinced myself that it was me that was the problem. It was the number of hours that I was working, the volatile nature of a start-up, and my stress level that was making me feel anxious, nervous and exhausted.
