I've got a crush on you, sweetie pie, All the day and night time, hear me sigh. -- "I've Got a Crush on You," song by George and Ira Gershwin, 1928
Did you ever have a crush on a guy in high school and wrote his name in your lined notebook a hundred times?
Brad Beamer, Brad Beamer, Brad Beamer
Then maybe you wrote a "Mrs." in front of his name a hundred times...
Mrs. Brad Beamer, Mrs. Brad Beamer, Mrs. Brad Beamer
...sort of trying the moniker on for size, to see what it would feel like to be his missus. I remember doing both of these exercises when I was in high school.
Well, here we are, approaching grand old Valentine's Day this coming Thursday, February 14.
It occurs to me that one of the tremendous perks of being married to someone for over ten years and still getting all mushy, silly, and tongue-tied around him is that you know for sure you're in that enviable state of being in love.
Being in love with someone you've been married to for more than ten years is a more permanent situation than a transitory crush, but if your guy still gives you chills when you see him, how delightful! It's the best of both worlds....
