The optimist sees the bagel; the pessimist sees the hole. - Anonymous
A group I'm active in, and passionate about, meets once a month.
Our meetings have interesting speakers, the opportunity to meet other aspiring and published authors and professionals who provide services to authors, and the chance to hear knowledgeable answers about publishing in an extended Q&A session.
Another huge bonus of attending is the chance to graze at the yummy brunch. Once people hear the cheery sound of the coffeepot starting to perk, there's a mad dash to the back of the room. What treats are there today?
The person in charge of providing refreshments recently certainly expanded our awareness of healthy food (without expanding our waistlines). So we've had sugar-free treats, gluten-free snacks, lots of fruits, veggies and dips, and salads.
But...as several of us pointed out at a recent evening get-together...we'd still like to see some comfort food in the midst of all the low-fat, non-fat goodies.
We're talkin' bagels, cream cheese, capers, red onions, maybe even lox.
We bagel boosters decided that there will be a special plate for us at the next meeting brunch. Bagel power!
