Yesterday I was sitting on the right side of the back row at my monthly independent publishers' group meeting.
Suddenly, an artist whom I've known for years (but don't see all that often) burst into the room. She hugged me so hard, not only did I think I'd fall off my chair, I also thought her bright-blue, down-filled parka would fall off!
That got me thinking again about the magical power of a really good hug. Hey, spirited women, don't you agree that there's almost nothing as satisfying as a really good hug? Except...maybe...well, you know what I'm referring to.
You may remember my post The Best Hugs in which I talked about group hugs. Those are kind of neat, too. But my all-time favorites are hugs from (a) my husband (or, before I married, my boyfriend) and (b) friends.
It's just so great to know that you're going to be meeting a friend you haven't seen for a while, for lunch or dinner, and to be absolutely, positively, certain that before you start noshin' and sloshin' and talkin', you'll be the recipient -- and the giver -- of a heartfelt hug!
So...hug away! Hugs = one of the great inventions of the modern world!
