You have probably heard the expression that being in love is like being on a natural high. Drugs don't have to be involved; that particular high comes from the sensation that occurs when there's a connection between two people whose chemistry is explosive.
In another example, musicians comment that when they're all really playing in sync and the music is flowing effortlessly, it's very much like being on a natural high.
Well, yesterday I had the experience of floating around the apartment on a natural high. But it had nothing to do with either being in love or playing music. It involved editing two rush projects for a client where there's ... um ... sort of a longtime lovefest going on.
When I saw those two projects in my computer inbox, my spirits rose exponentially!
You see, I really, truly "dig" the client's quirky, unorthodox, humorous style of business writing. And the client happily sends me her reports and other documents, secure in the knowledge that I will "work my magic" with my editing skills. Talk about a win-win!
It is such an unalloyed pleasure to actually look forward to working on a project where you know for sure that there will be no headaches, since you and the client will be able to compromise; there will be no gnashing of teeth, since the client has a flexible and fluid approach, and there will be no "fight or flight" response, since the client is reasonable.
I wasn't flying around the sky in a hot air balloon yesterday, but I was (figuratively) flying around the apartment on a natural high because of a terrific client! Up, up and away!
