One of the best teachers we can have is ourselves. When we listen to our inspiration and the sparks of ingenuity from within we can turn the ideas that bubble up into all sorts of interesting things. They may start out as a kind of curious experiment, just fiddling around... then blend with a focus or passion that interests us and things really get cooking from there.
Hanah Fathi, of solar cities, who lives in Cairo, Egypt had an interest in becoming as self-reliant as possible and going green using his inspiration and ingenuity. His questing mind helped him teach himself how to speak English from the newspapers found in the recycling bins. And from there the ideas started rolling in for different ways to create systems and mechanisms to help him save energy and be self-reliant. A U.S. NGO agency has given him a grant to study one of his inspirations that lets him turn household scraps into cooking fuel. He has used his inspiration and ingenuity so far to create a bio gas unit, solar water heating system, solar powered radio... all with home made do-it-yourself technology and his questing mind.
Inventing home made green technology may not be your passion or it may be. There are wonderful new ideas and experiences that await when you listen to your inspiration and ingenuity and see where your thoughts and passions lead you.
