You've probably heard it said that a woman is the "glue" that keeps the members of a family connected. She makes sure her husband calls his mom; she urges her kids to write thank-you notes to Grandma; and she's the social secretary who ensures that get-together's with friends, neighbors, and loved ones are scheduled regularly.
Psychological research shows that women think and focus far more on relationships than men do. It seems we women are wired to be connectors. And, as a Libra (the sign of partnership and harmony), I'm more wired than most women to put a high value on the relationships in my life--especially with my new husband, my son (23), daughter (18), stepson (21), and stepdaughter (19).
That's why I'm so honored to be invited to blog about relationships for Spirited Woman! It'll be fun to write about what has been a personal passion of mine for many years as well as a core value in my life. After my divorce at age 41, I devoured every book I could find about building healthier relationships, and that's a huge part of what I teach clients in my life coaching for separated/divorced women and my dating coaching for divorced and widowed women. So, it'll be a distinct pleasure to share with you what I've learned about relationships in both my post divorce life as a single parent and in the seven years I've been coaching.
Because I did a lot of personal growth work over the years and took trainings with women's self-empowerment experts, I plan to write often about the "Number 1" relationship in our lives - the one with ourselves. But I'll also be sharing insights about personal relationships between parents and kids, girlfriends, siblings, romantic partners, ex-spouses, in-laws, pets, and neighbors...as well as professional relationships with bosses, coworkers, clients, and fellow entrepreneurs. As a business owner, I know that "relationship building" is the goal of any good marketing plan, and I'll be speaking to that too.
Clearly, there is no shortage of relationship types and topics, and I'm very much looking forward to enlightening and inspiring you about enhancing and improving the many relationships you hold dear - and to help enrich all of your lives beyond belief!

Gayle -- Congratulations on your new blog. You've distilled more than a decade of searching into techniques that streamline not only the search, but how to think about searching. This means that readers can cast aside their plans to join a monastery in order to meet people. Instead, they can have the benefit of your experience. All best, The Divine Miss G
