With the popularity of dancing shows like So You Think You Can Dance and Dancing with the Stars, my love of dancing has begun to boil up to the surface after an 18 year hiatus. I spent 14 years of my life dancing, whether it be tap, ballet, jazz, gymnastics or pom poms, I was out there shaking my booty to the music, letting my spirit shine through with the power of dance. These shows have brought my dancing desire back and I now find myself dancing to the screen. With all of this hype and fun around dancing, I thought I would check to see about trips that center around it…and what I found was the perfect cure for the dancer inside all of us.
Tango Dancing in Argentina - What a cool tour this is! You get a weeklong trip to Buenos Aries, Argentina, short trips to areas like Mendoza, Bariloche or Iguazu Falls, tango lessons, nightly dance outings and amazing food, music and culture. I want to do this immediately. This trip sounds so amazing, the romance of Buenos Aries, with the energy of the tango and the thrill of adventure in the Argentina. The tour is run by Becka Tango Tours and runs between $2300 to $2800 depending on room occupancy. The package includes lodging, transportation, dance lessons and more (does not include airfare). And you can do customizable tours for 6 or more people!
Ballroom Dancing on the Sea - If you love to cruise and you love to ballroom dance, this is a tour that is perfect for you. Choose a location that you want to visit and you will get hours of planned dance parties throughout the cruise. Check out the Valentine’s Party Cruise aboard Holland America’s Westerdam ship which sails February 14th through the 21st. Enjoy hours of Nightly Dance Parties that include dances like the fox trot, waltz, tango, rumba, cha cha, bolero and mambo (all dances performed on Dancing with the Stars). Each tour has hosts and hostess throughout the trip to lead the dancing parties. Current pricing for the Valentine’s Day tour starts at $1600 up to $2500 per person for a double occupancy room.
Belly Dancing in Egypt - My mother took belly dancing when I was a child. I loved playing with her costumes and the little symbols she wore on her fingers to make the lovely sounds that came along with the vibrant dance. I just loved seeing the pictures of her in her outfits and I always wanted to follow in her footsteps. I found these organized trips to Egypt that are centered around belly dancing but offer a variety of activities. The trips go to Cairo and Alexandria and offer participants belly dance lessons, excursions to Egyptian attractions and shopping for Egyptian treasures. It appears that the next trip coming up is in 2011.
So, put on your dancing shoes and get ready to bust a move!
