Even though I am recently married and excited about my new life, I realize the importance of travel time with my girlfriends. So for next year, I'm planning a "girls trip" that brings lots of girl power while enjoying some excitement and adventure! I have been hankering to take one of the many surfing/yoga trips in Costa Rica as I love to surf and practice yoga and I've never been there. The idea of quality time with my girlfriends while taking part in activities that are healthy and fun and experiencing a new culture sounds perfect! In the spirit of girl trips, here are a few upcoming adventure trips that can give us all some much needed female bonding!
Dog Sledding in Minnesota - An organized tour (Winter, 2010) put on by Adventures in Good Company that offers tour participants five days of winter activities in Tofte Minnesota. Step into a winter wonderland and get out in nature with activities like cross country skiing, snowshoeing and dog sledding. The itinerary is already set, so you just have to show up and participate in each day’s activity. What sounds like the most exciting thing to me, is the full day of dog sledding, where you will be paired with another women to man a dog sled for the day. Accommodations are in lakefront homes that include hot tubs and saunas at the Bluefin Bay Resort located on the shores of Lake Superior. Meals are included, and spa activities are additional. Trip price: $1330 which includes guides, lodging, meals, skis and snowshoes, transportation from Duluth, Minnesota and all activities Click here for more details and to register.
Magdalena Bay, Baja, Mexico - If snow and ice are not your thing, take a trip for some warmth and intimate whale watching. This trip offered by Adventure Women gives participants close encounters with California Gray whales, the “Gentle Giants of the Pacific”. The whales migrate 12,000 miles from the Bering Sea to the warmer waters of the Baja Peninsula where they give birth to their one-ton calves. For four days, you will be take a 22-foot motorized skiff, which is guided by highly experienced local staff to watch the whales frolic around. Additional activities include kayaking, hiking and bird watching. Lodging and meals are provided throughout the trip in a safari-style “catered” beach camp centrally located to all of the activities. Trip Dates: January 30 – February 4; Trip Price: $2,595 includes RT airfare from Los Angeles to La Paz, Baja, Mexico.
Adventure Trip to New Zealand - A two-week guided tour offered by Canyon Calling, this trip will take you on a variety of stops across the country and offer up a wide array of activities in one of the most beautiful places in the world. If you are up for a true adventure, the list of daily activities is long and inviting, including hikes on glaciers, sea-kayaking through turquoise waters, sailing in the Bay of Islands, boating through the Southern Alps World Heritage area, walks through volcanoes and visiting the Maori tribal homeland where the local New Zealanders are known for being welcoming. Transportation and lodging is dependent on each stop. For more details visit the website above. Trip Dates: February 5 – 19; Trip Price: $4,495 includes most elements of the tour.
These are just a few of the trips I found for early 2010. All of these websites offer a variety of trips throughout the year, so take some time to check them out and mark your calendar for a great girl’s getaway that helps unleash your inner spirit!
