Due to last week's bad news, I had to postpone the topic of Michelle Pfeiffer so here it is... she's back! Her new movie, Cheri, premiered June 26th and is currently in theaters.
Set in Paris in the early 1900s, the film begins as retired courtesan Lea (Pfeiffer) enters into a six-year affair with Cheri (Rupert Friend), 19, the son of her colleague Charlotte (fellow Spirited Woman, Kathy Bates). As a once-renowned Parisian courtesan, she now has to face her own diminishing social value, her fleeting beauty and inevitable loneliness.
A scary and honest role for a 51-year-old actress, unless you are Michelle Pfeiffer. She is beautiful! She credits eating well and running that helps her keep in incredible shape and she also admits to a really good make up artist (we could all use one in the morning, right?).
To quote the movie (as Lea stretches under Cheri's appreciative hands) - "A good body lasts a long time," she replies "Everybody knows that." Ah, words to live by!
In true Spirited Woman style, Michelle Pfeiffer recently told Women's Wear Daily, “I don’t feel the need to really prove myself anymore,” says Pfeiffer, “I do what I want to do and I do it because I love it. I think, as a result of that, I enjoy the process more.”
