Last week my mom found a contest to be on the cover of a new magazine for girls. I was very exited to enter! She was ready to enter me in, and I was ready to write an essay, when we read all of the rules. It said nothing about writing, in fact we just had to upload a photo and pay. It seemed like a flat out beauty contest.
Feeling disappointed I decided not to enter the contest. Why didn't they want to know about the girls entering? Girls shouldn't be judged on their outside, no one should, the inside is better!
Later, my mom contacted the company about our thoughts. Today we saw that the magazine changed its rules and now you have to have at least 100 words about yourself. It really made me feel good - like my thoughts were recognized and that I made a difference.
It was also good knowing that other people care no matter your age, what you think. Because even though I can't vote or do many other things I can still do the things children can do and let my voice be heard. So here's to real beauty and being Alice or Rachel or Alex or Michelle or any other name, because we girls matter!

So glad to hear that, Alice. Way to go. I'm sure you reminded them about their real mission and purpose!
