Oprah & Her Weight Issues - But, She's a Fighter
It is no surprise that Oprah Winfrey (and I!) have been fighting our weight issues for as long as I can remember. Well... in the January '09 issue of O magazine, Oprah comes clean and admits to her readers that she now weighs 200 pounds and has fallen off the wagon when it comes to healthy living. "I'm mad at myself," Winfrey writes in an article provided early to The Associated Press.
Winfrey also writes that her goal is no longer to be thin; instead, she wants to be strong, healthy and fit. She hopes to get started with her upcoming "Best Life Series," starting Jan. 5 on The Oprah Winfrey Show during which she is expected to talk candidly about her weight.
Winfrey is inviting fitness expert Bob Greene and Dr. Mehmet Oz to her show during the first week of January, along with spirituality experts, sex therapists and financial expert Suze Orman. Winfrey also is expected to discuss her weight on her XM satellite radio station's The Gayle King Show on Jan. 5 and will host interactive live Web casts at Oprah.com the week of Jan. 12 to 16 every night at 9 p.m. EST.
My heart goes out to Oprah as she struggles with her weight publicly. Some websites are taking advantage of Oprah's announcement by posting photos of her at all sizes. I don't think that's too nice. I liked Oprah when she was big and I liked her when she was small. I am always inspired by her personality, interview skills and her Spirit!
I hope that we all remember that it is not about weight but about healthy choices and loving our bodies no matter what they look like. So watch out 2009! I might even post my photo on Spirited Woman in a bikini (nah, I know you like me for my mind...) You can read more about Oprah's struggle here.

Oprah! Oprah! I don't mind that you gained weight - really. You're only doing what 95%+ of people do....regain back what they lost BUT to call yourself a fat cow (apparently) - ouch now THAT hurts. It hurts that you can so easily forget that you are a Sacred incredible Being and your size and weight CAN NEVER CHANGE THAT!
