This week finds me in New York City where I am enjoying the beautiful fall weather and wishing I had more time to explore the city! Here are a few of my favorite things that have happened to me so far this week while on the road…some tips and treasures for every Spirited Woman to keep in mind!
1. Surfing the Internet While Flying….I have mentioned this in a recent post, but this was the first time I got to experience being connected to the internet while flying from LA to NYC. American Airlines is now offering in-flight internet connectivity via Gogo, a very easy to use service that costs $12.95 for the 5 or 6 hour flight with unlimited internet access. I LOVE this service…all you need to do is have your wireless on, and you will automatically be connected to the Gogo network. Once there, you can launch your browser and create an account. Upon set-up, you will pay for your service via credit card and then you are off surfing the web while flying 40,000 feet above the ground. For a long flight, this service can be a life saver. Not only did I do some emails in real time, but I updated my Facebook account, IM’d a few people and downloaded and watched a movie from Amazon.com. It was a blast to be able to stay connected to the real world while flying in air. Right now, this service is only available on select flights, but hopefully with its popularity, American will add it to more flights!
2. Walking….One of the best things to do in NYC is to walk! In LA, you drive everywhere; in NYC, you walk everywhere. I love putting on a great pair of boots, a cool black trench coat and a pashmina and walk the streets of NYC looking for beautiful finds in all of the eclectic neighborhoods. Especially in the fall. I spent part of my day today in the Bryant Park Area. What a beautiful place. Not only is it home to NYC Fashion Week, but the restaurant located in the Park is fabulous, and there is some great shopping and daydreaming around its parameter. No matter where you want to go, make sure to take some walking shoes with you and plan to walk to your destination.
3. Food….I love food and in NYC, there is a plethora of amazing delights. One of my favorite restaurants to visit while I am here is Koi in the Bryant Park Hotel – my mouth waters when I think of the delicious temptations of Rock Tempura Shrimp, Crispy Rice Tuna Rolls, Black Cod and so much more. The ambiance is very chill and Zen and the crowd is eclectic and fashionable. Top off your meal with a Lychee martini and some Mochi ice cream, and you will be whistling all the way back to your hotel.
4. Speaking of Hotels….I have also mentioned this one in a previous post, but I have to say that the Bryant Park Hotel is probably my favorite hotel in NYC. The location is perfect, the staff is excellent, the rooms are spacious, clean and cool and the ambiance is pure NY! Pricing can be moderate to pricey, but then again, what hotel is not pricey in NYC!
Just a few notes from the road….some NYC tidbits to remember for the next time you make it to the Big Apple!
