I have always been a fan of the TV show Last Comic Standing but now I am so excited. The winner of this season is a WOMAN. Her name is ILIZA SHLESINGER and she is an Emerson College Alum (as is yours truly!)
When I was there in the late 80's, Emerson College had comedians performing all over school – in the basement of my dorm, showcases in the cafeteria - and even one club held shows on the street to try out new material (imagine being heckled by Boston locals? I guess you can work at any comedy club after that). So it was so exciting to see her win.
The greatest thing about Iliza is that she is not only cute and spirited but very funny. She uses her real life experiences to make fun of herself and make you laugh. She doesn’t consider herself a female comedian, just a comedian who is female. I agree, why do we have to put her in a box? I am not a female marketing expert, just a marketing expert who happens to be female. Unless you want a female marketing expert…..
Iliza is 25 years old, from Dallas and now the winner of Last Comic Standing. I hope to see much more of her on my television set soon. If you would like to see episodes, then log on to Last Comic Standing or if you would like to see the finale it will be re-aired on Bravo on August 15th at 7:30pm.
