When people ask me, "What's shaking?", I usually answer, "A little more than I'd like." At one time, women who had flat stomachs were considered not as attractive as those who had a more, shall we say, robust middle section. Aaaaah, the good old days. Somewhere along the way, the illusion of a beautiful woman changed from an hourglass shape to a stick shape and since then, we've all had to seek counseling after mistakenly glancing at our bodies sideways in the mirror.
Lately, I've given up on crunches, exercise balls, and expensive ab machines and instead decided to celebrate my stomach in all its nondefined, flabby splendor. "I'm going to become a professional belly dancer," I announced to my husband during dinner the other night. He dropped his pork chop bone in surprise as I stood up, ripped my blouse off, and stood there in my sports bra and shorts. My stomach hung over my waistband like a curious toddler peeking over the side of a cliff. "I read the other day that belly dancing celebrates the power of being a mature woman," I continued. "So, I've been watching videos to learn how to do ... THIS!" I tucked my pelvis, squeezed and released my glutes, and moved my hips slowly from side to side.
"Holy cow," my husband swallowed hard as he stared at my forty-six-year-old hips. "Your stomach looks grrrrrreeeat!" As I shook my belly all around the kitchen and watched my husband grinning from ear to ear, it suddenly didn't matter that I could hear my glutes screaming for mercy or that my hip joints popped like popcorn. I felt grrrrrreeeat.
My grandmother once told me that the way to a man's heart is through his stomach. I think the way to a spirited woman's heart is through the acceptance of her beautiful, natural, unaltered curves.

Hey Vicky, Not sure I'd try belly dancing myself, but I can really relate to that jiggling flesh!! I'm happy your husband appreciates a well-rounded woman!
