Colette has become a Paris institution but when I first encountered this wonderful shop I was sadly oblivious to its existence. At the time, I had just moved a short walk away and on one of my first strolls around my new neighborhood I took a turn down the rue Saint Honore and discovered the gem known as Colette.
This is not a store for the fashion feint of heart but if you want to have some fun while creating your style, Colette is the place for you.
The Paris fashion stop uses the term "StyleDesignArtFood" as its trademark since it truly is all of these rolled into one unique space. Here you will not only find the latest fashions, but also wonderfully gadgety objects to wear and to hold, along with always interesting works of art in their ever-changing contemporary gallery.
Colette's window dressers may be as famous as the store itself. It always merits a walk in front of the boutique just to see their latest creation. Sometimes you come across a true work of art and other times pass without even wanting a second glance but at Colette expression is the name of the game and they usually do it oh so well.
Though Colette is not your classic French Chanel style it has its own unique twist on what makes fashion fashionable. Surf on over to the store's website and you will get a taste of what awaits you at the Paris boutique: http://www.colette.fr/index.php
Also of interest to New York readers is the fact that Colette and The GAP have teamed up for a special event taking place from September 6th to October 5, 2008. GAP has invited Colette to its unique space next to the main store on 5th Avenue and 54th Street for one exciting month. This Franco-American adventure marks Colette's first steps across the Atlantic and will offer an exclusive selection of never seen before products. (For any visitors coming to France you can get a sneak preview of the collection at the Rue Saint Honore store from August 25th to September 27th.)
To your fabulous style,
