In my 20’s, living in NYC, I was going on my first vacation, a cruise, with a girlfriend. She ditched me (she wasn’t a Spirited Woman!) to re-unite with an old flame. I wasn’t willing to go on the cruise alone. I went to New Orleans for Mardi Gras instead, met my future husband and didn’t do a cruise for 20 more years because he would not accompany me and because I was afraid of gaining weight via the all-you-can-eat cruise food.
Finally, a group of women friends invited me to join them on a short cruise, it was an epiphany, I thought I’d had vacations before, but there was no comparison. I had a wonderful time (they were spirited women) and couldn’t wait to sail again. My previous vacations were: packing and unpacking in city after city, concern about where we’d eat that day/evening, how to get from here to there every stop on the trip, not knowing if the hotel, motel would have a good bed to sleep in, cleaning and cooking in a sublet condo; all were totally different than my experience on a cruise.
A cruise gives service above and beyond even a stay at a five-star hotel, it feels so luxurious. You only unpack once! There is a gym and a spa. Gourmet level food, served in controllable amounts. There are people from all over the globe, both on the crew and amongst the passengers. There is a camaraderie and small town feel to a ship. I especially enjoy the nature/spirit connection of a cruise. The ocean is so mystical, the wind, the waves, the clouds. A myriad of birds, flying fish, sea turtles, dolphins, sting rays and whales. There are infinite stars at which to gaze, aurora borealis, glaciers, rock formations and so much more.
A cruise can be convivial or solitary. It can be very active or laid back. It can be a spa cruise for relaxation / regeneration. Or a cruise with a different port every day; educational, enlightening, enriching. There are so many cruise lines, so many ships, the selection can be daunting, that is why my experience and expertise can help you discover the cruise that will suit you best. I can help guide you through the maze of ships and accommodations, instruct you on how to manage the food and exercise onboard so you can come home healthier than before the cruise and still have a real vacation. You will get tips on how to make the trip easier and how to make air travel less stressful. How to get the most out of your first cruise, instead of wasting time learning the ropes.
And at Cruisewomen we encourage traveling in a way that supports women everywhere.
I would love to do a Spirited Woman cruise for a group of us to share our skills, talents and knowledge with each other. Having fun together is even more fun on a cruise. Tell me if you would like to participate in a Spirited Woman cruise.
Oh, and did I forget to mention dancing…. there is dancing on almost every cruise! I do love to dance.
