Owning property is the best way to get ahead in life. But it makes more
than just financial sense. I believe it also nurtures the soul, giving
you a canvas on which to create a comfortable setting to eat, sleep,
drink and be merry.
Working in the entertainment industry from 1974 until 2001, I still spent Saturdays pouring over the real estate classifieds like a religious journal and dreaming of the day I would buy my first property.
From the age of 18, I wanted to own a
triplex. I don’t know where I got this idea, except that I knew the
rental income from the 2nd and 3rd units would allow me to live for
free. I tried to get my father and uncle to help me, but they were
convinced I would just let everyone else live there for free!
Finally, when I turned 36, tired of renting and making others wealthy, I convinced my parents it was time to invest in me—and in my dream. With their help (in exchange for the tax write off), I purchased a triplex in Ocean Park, Santa Monica. This was the best investment of my life: a great home close to the beach, and an income that helps pay my living expenses every month. I call this my ‘old lady house’ because the income it produces will enable me to retire one day.
In
2001, I jumped out of show business and put all of my focus into real
estate. I would love to help you buy or sell a home or just answer any
questions you might have about home ownership; marketing your property;
or buying an investment property!
