EDITOR'S MESSAGE
Through the years, many of you have wanted to know a little bit more about my life, where I live, etc...
In this issue, I'm featuring a temporary logo shot - of me in my downtown loft in LA. Yep, I'm a creative "lofty." I moved here from West LA three months ago and it feels so very spirited womany. I love it here, I walk a lot, I'm content reading my mysteries and best of all - having daily adventures.
As my LA subscribers know, I'm hosting a private series starting April 18, using my loft as a base - "Saturday Morning Conversation Series with Co-Creators & Visionaries." After I sent out the invite, I realized some of you in LA might not have gotten it - and those of you elsewhere might want to tell your LA friends about it.

SPIRITED WOMAN Q & A
SHILOH SOPHIA McCLOUD
As most of you know, we have a very talented Spirited Woman Blogger Team, and our creative arts' blogger, Naila Francis, found Shiloh Sophia McCloud on the internet and e-mailed me and wrote, "If Shiloh isn't a Spirited Woman, then I don't know who is." And I agreed. 100%. 1000%. All you have to do is look at her magnetic picture.
I later found out, Shiloh Sophia McCloud is an amazing woman. She lives in Healdsburg, California, which is the Sonoma County wine and art country. with her husband and soul mate of 15 years (or perhaps lifetimes), Isiah McCloud. Painter, author, publisher, igallery owner, workshop leader, spiritual mama, creative visionary, and the ultimate "Cosmic Cowgirl," Shiloh leads a life filled with intense passion.
Also a renogade, she says, "I actually went through several years of college, focusing in art and psychology. Once in art school, I felt I was losing my own creativity and identity, and so, I quit and moved to a tiny cabin on a mountain and learned to paint from one of our family matriarchs, Sue Hoya Sellars My education comes from being in community with the powerful women I was raised with, and the phenomenal women who make up my team now. I was 22 when I moved to the mountain and began working with the wild woman, as well as the sacred woman within me."
In her fascinating interview, I believe you will find this woman's advocate to be a force to be reckoned with. Go Shiloh!
Q. You mention on your site that you had an epiphany that led you to this new path - what was it?
A.
I am not sure which epiphany you are specifically referring to, so, I will give one a try. Once I moved to the mountain, I woke up to two things which have shaped my life from that moment forward. And yes it was a mountain top experience. I was literally standing atop a mountain, looking out over hundreds of acres of gorgeous green, and praying. Through this and a series of other eye opening events, I "woke up" to the status of women in the world, as well as to the lack of the Divine Feminine in our lives. These two realizations led me into my art making journey - which I decided at that time would be dedicated to the healing of women. I was very sparked to work toward ending abuse against women, and to provide information about what is actually happening to women and girls in the world.
After many years of action, practice, study and service, my work has crystalized into teaching, painting and publishing. My own relationship to the Divine Feminine was cultivated during this time, and because of that I still have a very deep connection with Mama Mary, I feel it was her presence which inspired me to work on behalf of others.
Q. Shiloh, if you had to describe yourself in one or two sentences, how do you perceive yourself?
A.
I am a visionary artist and teacher dedicated to the healing of women and the awakening of the heart. I am often called the Art Doctor, or Minister of Sacred Arts, because my ministry focuses on the medium of creativity as a spiritual practice and a path of healing.
Q. Have you always been a visionary or shall we say a deep creative essence?
A. I believe that every single one of us is a visionary. Just like every single one of the bones in our body is a creative bone. Visionary being-ness, much like love, is available all the time, all around us, we just may or may not choose to participate in that. All of my life, I have sought that which is original, unique, and true, and in that way, I would say I have always looked beyond what was in the physical realm, making an effort to see between the veils from early childhood.
Q. How would you describe a "Cosmic Cowgirl?"
A. A Cosmic Cowgirl is a woman with her feet on the earth and her head in the stars. She is both grounded in reality, and continuously dreaming about what is possible, for herself, and for all people.
Cosmic Cowgirls is the name of our woman and girl owned publishing company, dedicated to transforming lives into legends through art, books and media. We named it Cosmic Cowgirls because we work with some very intense topics, like death, disease, divorce, recovery, as well as business, and right and left brain approaches to living, so we needed a name that summoned a creative being, a celebratory woman who could get the job done. Cosmic Cowgirls are women who are grounded and earthy, while cosmic and sparkling! Yahoo! Besides, we like to wear red cowgirl boots, rhinestone crusted hats and feather boas, so we can celebrate and feel good, while doing good work in the world!de with

step in that direction.
Q. What led you to found Cosmic Cowgirls Ink?
A.
Cosmic Cowgirls was inspired by my desire to turn my ministry into a true and lasting service by making a place for women to gather, both in spirit and in body, and a to provide a place for their voices to be heard. I imagined us meeting for hundreds of years, and raising up our girl children in a culture in which their creativity was nurtured and encouraged. The simple answer is that I wanted to make books that were tools to support women on their journey through life, and to do it with a group of women I would be working with on an on-going basis. The ultimate tribe!
Q. What's it basic message?
A.
The basic message of Cosmic Cowgirls is to remind us that healing is possible. That we have the opportunity to live a vital creative life through working with other women, as well as our own internal wisdom. And that how we perceive our lives, shapes how we live inside of them, so why not choose one that has more possibilities inside of it? Since Cosmic Cowgirls is an LLC, we are able to have Owner Members,we just go started but we have 140 Members so far, and two teenage girls just joined! We hope to have 5000 within 5 years; and one of the reasons for that is so that when we are going to make a book, or take a stand on a topic, there are enough voices inside the company who can contribute to the material - because they have experience in that arena.
Q. What are the books about?
A. Our most recent title, Heart of the Visionary is a book dedicated to women's work which includes everything from basic business planning, to laughter yoga, to right brain left brain practices. My title before that one, Her Evolution is used in many colleges as well as recovery centers throughout the country. We have our books represented at hundreds of independent stores and galleries across the US and Canada. The books are also used in recovery centers, battered women's shelters, aids clinics, psychiatric wards, hospitals, colleges, the workplace - and basically anywhere a woman is who could use some inspiration and support for her journey! We are PASSIONATE about making safe spaces for women to work inside of. We will be releasing a teen girl's rights of passage book next Fall, called Speaking My Truth which we are working on with girls and women as the authors and illustrators.
Q. You lead many workshops - describe a few of your favorites and where do you teach them?
A. My workshops are held in our Cosmic Cowgirls Studio in Healdsburg, California. One of my favorite workshops is Heart of the Visionary, which is for women entrepreneurs who want to create a vision plan - which is somewhat like a business plan from a feminine perspective which includes painting your own full color vision book. I also teach this at the college level so that students who are graduating have a guideline to implement their plans for the future! I also love to teach The Awakened Heart which explores painting and prayer as sacred practice - no painting experience is required! I just taught that this past weekend. We work a lot with painting the female face and body, claiming and nurturing our own image, what we sometimes call the inner visionary, or the inner wise woman. Or...the wild one within.
Q. What are you working on right now that you are excited about?
A. I love working with other women authors and artists to get the word out about them and their projects. I have been working with Author Alice Walker for several years now and one of our projects, a greeting card line with her words and my images was just accepted into the International Women's Museum for an on-line show. As well, a branch of Cosmic Cowgirls, called Palm of Her Hand has just produced Alice Walker's only approved website, as well as her first blog - both of which feature her writings which have, most of the time, not yet been published! I am also currently working with several other women authors and artists to get their work out into the world, and this is very exciting for me!
Q. Shiloh, why do you feel that you are a Spirited Woman?
A. For me, a spirited woman is any woman in conversation about what it is to be "woman." A Spirited Woman both chooses to love herself, and to love others powerfully. And I, most certainly am, a spirited woman! Thank you Nancy, for all you do to share the voice of women, making a space where the spirited woman can be heard and celebrated!
